In Funchal, the capital of Madeira - Portugal

In Funchal, the capital of Madeira, barely half of the islanders are living. The mild climate of the „flower-island “, the huge nature-beauties and diverse possibilities to sport and recuperation let Madeira turn into an interesting winter-health resort. The white city Funchal extends over a big sea–bay along itself and offers many places worth seeing. Beside historic churches, fortresses and the buildings of the Zona Velha, particularly the beautiful parks of the city are worth a longer visit.
Two modern cable railways lead to the famous Monte Palace Tropical Garden, where also an Africa-und mineral-museum is located. A bird-park connects directly to it. The way back could take place with a trip in the particular basket-sleigh Funchals. It lasts approximately 15 minutes. An orchid-garden with more than 50.000 types is located below the Monte.
The fashionable Lido-Promenade and the docks are suitable for a walk especially well, because there are restaurants, public swimming pools and businesses. From the Marina, boat - and fishing rod-tours are offered.
The nearby located steep-coast Cabo Girao, the second most-highest coast world-wide, offers an impressive outlook over Funchal and the sea.
The Fridays-market, Mercado los Lavradores, is an experience. Fruits, flowers and fresh fish are offered on the busy market.
