Central Greece – a unique landscape
Greece: This means Classical Antiquity and Modern Age, both united on the mainland as well as on the many small islands in the Aegean, the Ionian and Libyan Sea. The mountainous region of the Greek mainland is called Central Greece. It is a landscape, which is - due to its location - also called “Mainland-Greece”.
Although the name might sound a little bit boring and prosaic to some people, this is an enormous error. Central Greece is known as a historical landscape of the country, which is marked by traditional villages, pine forests and antique places. One extraordinary example is the Amphitheatre with the sacrificial site of Apollo, one of the most famous objects of interest in Greece, which you can admire on a discovery tour.
But of course, Central Greece has much more to offer. Like the legendary city of Thebes, where Oedipus and Heracles used to live thousands of years ago, or Delphi, another well-known and famous attraction of the country.
In this region all kinds of comfortable accommodations are available. Besides many hotels and holiday-apartments, the tourists are welcome to be guest in several boarding-houses and campsites. So don’t hesitate to visit Central Greece, the region and its sights are waiting for you!
