Cyprus - a green island
Cyprus is, beside Sicily and Sardinia, the third largest island in the Mediterranean. With its mild Mediterranean climate, Cyprus is a popular tourist destination as here the highest water temperatures in the Mediterranean are being measured. The total temperatures in winter rarely falls below 15 degrees, the summer with pleasant 28-30 degrees is also beautiful. Cyprus is mainly known by its unforgettable nature.
Rugged rocks are found in the north, the south is affected by volcanic, densely forested area. At the coasts, however, there are wide sandy beaches which invite for lingering and walking. Everyone will find anything for itself, hikers as well as sun bathers can find what they seek.
Cyprus is a green island, which is covered with cedar and pine trees. Especially in the spring, the island is a feast for the eyes, because then the island is sinking into an ocean of flowers of anemones, daffodils and gladioli.
Cyprus is a divided country. The North politically belongs to Turkey and the south on the other hand belongs to Greece. There are always tenseness but the tourists do miss it. Many people in Cyprus are still living on the agriculture, especially citrus fruits are being cultivated. The principal source of income of Cyprus, however, is the tourism. A lot of people are working here.
Worth seeing in Cyprus particularly is the capital Nicosia, but also Limassol, the city of rocks, is interesting and worth seeing. In the west of Cyprus, in the massif Troodos, you will find the city of the same name, where nine Byzantine churches can be visited. Many hotels offer day trips to many attractions and also to the capital.
