Wallachia, a region full of variety
Walachia is one of Romania’s best-known landscapes and at the same time a historical region which was cared for by the Ottoman Empire for centuries. In 1859, Walachia united with the princedom of Moldavia, and out of this fusion, Romania emerged.
In the north, the region borders on the Carpathian Mountains; in the south, it borders on the River Danube. These conditions turn Walachia into an interesting destination for alpinists or trekking fans but also for water sports aficionados. The region’s biggest city, Bucharest, is at the same time the country’s capital city and absolutely worth a visit due to its historic buildings. Numerous museums, theatres and other cultural institutions are popular places for those interested in culture. It should not be difficult to find a hotel room here.
The near Carpathian Mountains compensate not only nature aficionados for their stressful daily life. Mountain bikers, hobby alpinists and trekking fans will also find the necessary diversion. Those wanting to explore the area for a longer time should rent a holiday home in order to spend their holidays in Walachia freely and at ease. The wild scenery and the friendly people also contribute to the tourists’ well-being and relaxation.
