Baden Baden – Health Resort with international Flair
The spa and health resort Baden Baden is located on the edge of the Black Forrest, close to the French border. Eleven hot springs form the basis for a huge number of medical treatments. Of special interest are the Roman-Irish Steam Bath and the modern Spa-Centre Caracalla-Therme. People, who stay in one of the hotels or motels of the city, should not forget to take a walk through the Spa Garden. No matter if you prefer looking through the goods of the noble boutiques in front of the Spa House, trying the curative effect of the hot spring water inside the historical pump room, or trying your luck at the Casino.
Along the Lichtenthaler Allee you pass by the marvellous Art Nouveau gardens of the Lichtenthal Abbey. At the castle hill you will find the old town. Inside the Minster you can have a look at the tomb of Margrave Ludwig Wilhelm. Inside the New Castle, which used to be the residence of the ducal family, the town-historical collections of Baden Baden are presented.
During a stay in one of the hotels or motels of Baden Baden, it is worth hiking up to the 670 meter high Merkur. From there you can enjoy a wonderful view over the city and the Rhine Valley. Baden Baden is also known as starting point of the famous Black-Forest-Highroad, which is leading to Freudenstadt and is passing by all tourist attractions of the low mountain range.
